San Luis Obispo Goes Red to Recognize Wear Red Day and Raise Awareness for Heart Disease

The American Heart Association will be joined by over 100 women and men dressed in red for the San Luis Obispo Wear Red Day Luncheon. This half-day event aims to empower attendees with information and tools to fight heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women, and live healthier lives.  

The event program will feature the inspiring story of local heart disease survivor, Sharon Young, and keynote address from Dr. Andrea Tackett, MD, FACC, Coastal Cardiology.

Annual South County Turkey Trot is Nov. 28

South County Turkey Trot

Lenny Jones, creator and organizer of the 2nd Annual South County Turkey Trot is proud to announce that this year the event will benefit the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank Coalition and be held in memory of Christine Allen of San Luis Obispo.  The Trot will take place on November 28, 2013 - Thanksgiving Day morning - and will begin and end at the Pismo Beach Pier.

Dragon boat racing promotes fitness & friendship among cancer survivors

If you are driving past Morro Bay and happen to see the head of a prehistoric monster gliding through the water, do not call your local Scottish anthropologist; boats adorned with the head of a dragon are now a common site on the waters surrounding Morro Rock. The Estero Bay is home to our very own local team of Dragon Boat paddlers, better known as the Central Coast SurviveOars.
