Raised in land-locked Calgary, Canada by a father who had competed in the Olympic trials as a Star-Class yacht racer, the call of a watery horizon always beckoned him. So, at his first chance, in his early twenties, he set off for the Virgin Islands. Working as a waiter, he earned his fins as a scuba dive master and spent a year exploring the underwater paradise of the islands.

On Dec. 7 in Las Vegas, Pit North owner and head trainer Castle Williams won his Mixed Martial Arts Fight by Guillotine Submission 2 minutes 22 seconds into the very first round at King of the Cage, Future Legends 19.

Paso Robles man races Ironman triathlon

Tom Seidel’s effort culminates two years of racing and training

Tom Seidel of Paso Robles completed an Ironman competition Nov. 17 in 14 hours and 52 minutes. It was his first Ironman, a grueling race that tests an athlete’s physical and mental stamina, and it took place in Tempe, Arizona. 

“I feel a little like I was hit by a bus,” he said after finishing. “I’m very happy to have finished, and happy to have finished under 15 hours.”
