Scott Tinley’s Triathlons set for Oct. 4-6

Tri-California Events’ annual Scott Tinley’s Triathlons will take place at Lopez Lake in Arroyo Grande, Calif. on October 4 - 6, 2013.

The series of triathlons, formerly known as Scott Tinley’s Dirty Adventures, is promoted as an event that features a race for any level of skill among professional and amateur triathletes.

The event will feature a Long Course distance race (1.5 Mile Swim, 48.8 Mile Bike, 9 Mile Run), an International (Olympic) distance race (1 Mile Swim, 26.1 Mile Bike, 6 Mile Run), a Sprint distance race (.25 Mile Swim, 12.4 Mile Bike, 3 Mile Run), and a Youth distance race (200 Yard Swim, 4 Mile Bike, 1 Mile Run). There is also an option for an off road course for the Sprint distance race.

Scott Tinley’s Triathlons’ long course is one of only several long courses available in California. One other is Tri-California’s famous Wildflower Triathlons, an annual event that occurs in May at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, Calif.

Scott Tinley participants will face an open water swim in Lopez Lake, single track and fire road mountain bike trails, a road bike course through the campgrounds, and on and off road running trails through the hills of Arroyo Grande. The scenic venue is also home to California Polytechnic State University’s annual March Triathlon Series, a popular event among collegiate triathletes.

Scott Tinley, a former professional triathlete and Ironman hall-of-fame inductee, worked with Tri-California Events to start this annual off road triathlon event after he retired from his athletic career in 1999.
