2nd Annual Central Coast Classique Bike Ride to Benefit Local Non-Profits

San Luis Obispo, CA – Bike Ride on August 24th – The second annual Central Coast Classique, a 30, 64, and 100 mile bike ride supports two local non-profits: Creative Mediation, part of Wilshire Community Services, and SLO LEAF, the San Luis Obispo Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation. Proceeds from the ride will support Creative Mediation’s Military Family Mediation Program - which provides direct support to military service members and their families who endure the unique challenges of distance, communication barriers, financial hardships and the constant looming threat of loss - as well as SLO LEAF's direct financial aid services - which offer immediate support for law enforcement officers and their families in the event of tragic circumstances. Joining the ride this year is Major Stacie Shafran, currently stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Stacie heard about the Central Coast Classique through a fellow Air Force Captain who helped build Creative Mediation’s Military Family Mediation Program. After learning about the ride and the support it lends to both military service members and law enforcement officers, Stacie was moved to ride in the event in honor of friends she lost while serving in Afganistan.

On Memorial Day in 2009, four members of Stacie’s team were tragically killed in action while serving overseas. Over time Stacie has found the courage to share with others about the loss she endured when the lives of her comrades were taken. In order to ensure their legacy lives on, Stacie has committed to riding in the Central Coast Classique to honor the memory of the four fallen members of her team.

The Central Coast Classique begins and ends at the Rotary Band Stand in the Village of Arroyo Grande and boasts spectacular views through Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Lopez Lake, Edna Valley and Huasna Valley for the 30, 64 and 100 mile rides.
All riders will enjoy fully stocked rest stops, a post-ride BBQ, SAG support, swag bags and a wine tasting punch card good for discounts and free tastings at participating wineries.
